Top 5 Savoury Recipes from 2013

Savoury recipes are a bit of a rarity compared to all of the sweet recipes on Bake Play Smile, but I’m trying hard to be a bit more balanced (cough, cough – I mean healthy!). There were however a few savoury posts here and there this year… so here’s a rundown of the five most popular savoury recipes from 2013!


1. Quinoa and Vegetable Bake

This is quite possibly one of my favourite ever lunches! It’s ridiculously healthy but also tastes great. Best of all it can be cut into slices and frozen which can only mean one thing… an easy-peasy, no-fuss lunch!




2. Hearty and Healthy Chicken and Vegetable Soup

It’s kind of strange to be thinking about soup now that we are smack-bang in the middle of summer… but considering half the world is in winter, it’s no surprise that this soup is one of the most viewed posts at the moment. Funnily enough, it’s also one of my most pinned images on Pinterest (if I had known that would happen I would have tried to take a better photo!!).



3. Roast Vegetable Quiche

This quiche would be made in our household at least once a fortnight. The ingredients are usually mixed and matched, but the combination of pastry, vegetables, cheese and egg is always a winner! Perfect for lunch or for dinner… this is one super versatile recipe.



4. Fast and Fabulous Frittata

This is the perfect recipe for a quick and easy dinner. You can eat it on its own or with a side salad. My favourite way to eat it is piping hot with a dollop of chutney on top!



5. Healthy Vegetable Slice

Like everyone else in the world I love zucchini slice, but sometimes it’s nice to have a bit of a change! This slice is jam-packed with vegetables and is perfect for taking to work or school for lunch. Yummy and easy… my kind of cooking!


I’m going to try and include a few more healthy savoury recipes on Bake Play Smile next year… just to balance out all those chocolatey recipes that you know will be coming up too!
